Their new show\, “Sur la route”\, revisits their adventures and tours\, taking you from the Great Wall of China to Stanley Park in Vancouver\, from the snowy Rockies to Django Reinhardt’s charming Samois-sur-Seine. This season\, it’s all happening at Plaza Franco! \n\n\n\n\n🎵 Musical Performance – The Aunties🎵\n\n\n\n\nThis is the story of 9 Chadian women\, resilient heroines of society. On a daily basis\, they are: shopkeepers\, businesswomen\, housewives\, bili bili (local drink) makers. A “historic” turning point for Chad. \nSpotted for their talent and their stories\, the Tantines of N’Djamena are not afraid of words and breaking the silence. Art and music are a way for them to transcend their experiences\, a journey of fighting women who have taken charge of their lives\, alone. \nLes Aunties\, in addition to the artistic project\, also take concrete action to inform and set an example (thanks in particular to the training received via the project) in the handling of tools essential to women’s empowerment: capital management\, savings\, bank accounts\, mobile money. \nBeyond the power of words and music\, the Aunties are launching an international women’s movement in their own image. \n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more!

This season\, it’s all happening at Plaza Franco! \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n🎵 Musical Performance –  The Islanders Hot Club 🎵\n\n\n\n\n\nLe Hot Club des Insulaires is a gypsy jazz (Manouche) ensemble from Victoria\, B.C. This trio of vagabonds re-lives the classic era of French Manouche\, American swing\, and Italian shoes. Faster than a New York minute and as smooth as a fine Pinot Noir\, these multi-instrumental\, multi-lingual\, multi-talented players will leave you wanting more. The group is co-led by double bassist Tim Croft and guitarist Nick Mintenko. The band leaders also double on vocalists (in English and French!). The guitarist Mitchell Green who brings his mischievous musette stylings to the band\, completes the trio. With modern twists on classics standards\, and classic takes on modern tunes\, the virtuosity of these seasoned pros will keep it swinging all night long.\n\n \n\nThe group has just released their debut album: GREENHOUSE BLUES. The recording features West Coast gypsy jazz legends\, Marc Atkinson and Daniel Lapp. Atkinson is also the album’s producer and sound engineer.\n\n \n\nFor this concert\, the group will be joined by Richard Moody on violin. Richard is an active\, local musician who has played with groups\, such as The Bills\, Ruth Moody and many other Canadian and international groups.
