Chaque mot est pesé\, chaque silence est habité. Une ambiance musicale subtile accompagne la performance\, renforçant la portée de ses slams. \nThis one-hour show is a suspended moment where poetry\, rhythm\, and meaning intertwine to move the audience. \n\n\n 	The performance will take place from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Doors open at 7 PM – enjoy the bar before the show!\n\n 	Tickets: $20 for members\, $25 for non-members.\n\n\n\nAbout Élémo \n\nÉlémo\, whose real name is Marc-Olivier Jean\, is a prominent figure in Quebec’s slam scene. Active for over 10 years\, he shares his passion both on stage and in schools\, leading writing workshops for elementary and high school students. \nIn 2017\, he released his first EP Celui qui aime les mots. He later gained media attention through collaborations with Télé-Québec in the SLAM capsules\, as well as appearances on the shows Les Suppléants and Cochon Dingue. \nIn 2021\, he became the headliner of SLAM JAM\, a series of educational videos introducing young people to poetry and literary devices. At the same time\, he conquered TikTok with his humorous sketches combining rhymes and wordplay\, reaching over 16 million views and 230\,000 followers. \nOn stage\, he has performed at Montréal Symphonique alongside Wyclef Jean\, Pierre Lapointe\, and Cœur de Pirate\, accompanied by three major orchestras. The group is co-led by double bassist Tim Croft and guitarist Nick Mintenko. The band leaders also double on vocalists (in English and French!). The guitarist Mitchell Green who brings his mischievous musette stylings to the band\, completes the trio. With modern twists on classics standards\, and classic takes on modern tunes\, the virtuosity of these seasoned pros will keep it swinging all night long.\n\n \n\nThe group has just released their debut album: GREENHOUSE BLUES. The recording features West Coast gypsy jazz legends\, Marc Atkinson and Daniel Lapp. Atkinson is also the album’s producer and sound engineer.\n\n \n\nFor this concert\, the group will be joined by Richard Moody on violin. Richard is an active\, local musician who has played with groups\, such as The Bills\, Ruth Moody and many other Canadian and international groups. This season\, it’s all happening at Plaza Franco! \n\n\n\n\n🎵 Musical Performance – The Aunties🎵\n\n\n\n\nThis is the story of 9 Chadian women\, resilient heroines of society. On a daily basis\, they are: shopkeepers\, businesswomen\, housewives\, bili bili (local drink) makers. A “historic” turning point for Chad. \nSpotted for their talent and their stories\, the Tantines of N’Djamena are not afraid of words and breaking the silence. Art and music are a way for them to transcend their experiences\, a journey of fighting women who have taken charge of their lives\, alone. \nLes Aunties\, in addition to the artistic project\, also take concrete action to inform and set an example (thanks in particular to the training received via the project) in the handling of tools essential to women’s empowerment: capital management\, savings\, bank accounts\, mobile money. \nBeyond the power of words and music\, the Aunties are launching an international women’s movement in their own image. \n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more!
