Discover its traditions\, symbols\, and history of this emblematic place in Victoria\, in the heart of the Chinatown. The Victoria Francophone Society and l’Alliance Française de Victoria invite you to experience this unique\, cultural experience. \n\n\n\n\nGuided tour by Lori Wong (bilingual FR/EN)\n\n 	Brief presentation of the bilingual children’s book Ellie réveille les esprits du temple Tam Kung / Ellie Awakens the Spirits of Tam Kung Temple\, written by Lori Wong and illustrated by Ashton Louie. Created for the 150ᵗʰ anniversary of the Tam Kung Temple\, this beautifully illustrated book invites young readers to explore themes of migration\, resilience\, and belonging.\n 	Guided tour inside the temple\n\n\n\nAbout the author\, Lori Wong \nLori Wong is a retired teacher and historian born in Victoria\, and the great-great-granddaughter of Ngai Sze\, who shares Chinese Canadian history and traditions through her research and children’s books. \nDid you know? \nDesignated a National Historic Site of Canada in 2025\, Tam Kung Temple is a rare example of a Chinese temple in the country. Originally founded as a shrine in the 1860s\, it remains an important place of worship for the Chinese community — particularly the Hakka community — on Vancouver Island\, and stands as a testament to the continuity of this cultural and spiritual tradition for more than a century.
