DESCRIPTION:Evening of storytelling\, music\, and poetry in collaboration with the Department of French and Francophone Studies\, we are pleased to welcome the poet\, storyteller\, and novelist Marie-Célie Agnant for a reading of her poems and stories. Initially a teacher\, then a translator and interpreter\, she has participated in several university research projects. Her collection of short stories\, Le Silence comme le sang\, was a finalist for the Governor General’s Award of Canada. Femmes des terres brûlées\, her third poetry collection\, earned her the 2017 Alain-Grandbois Prize from the Academy of Letters of Quebec.\n\nNoedy Hechavarria Duharte\, originally from Santiago de Cuba\, settled in Victoria in 2014. Since then\, he has established himself as a unique and original jazz musician on the West Coast. Noedy had the opportunity to study with internationally renowned musicians\, including pianists Danilo Pérez and Aruan Ortiz in New York\, as well as saxophonists Chad Lefkowitz-Brown\, Frank Lozano\, and Ralph Bowen.
